Editorial and language reference assistants provide support to editors and translators to ensure accuracy, consistency and timeliness in the processing of documents and publications in all six official languages. They perform a range of editorial support tasks, check references and footnotes (notably for legal documents, including resolutions and decisions of United Nations Charter bodies and multilateral treaties), and respond to research queries of editors and translators, including by tracking sources which are not readily available via eLUNa, UNTERM or other online sources.

Editorial and language reference assistants also contribute to the maintenance of terminology databases, including UNTERM, and provide other specialized editorial, terminology and translation support tasks as needed.

Recruitment in this area is currently suspended as automated reference support tools and working methods are being introduced.
